CREATION OR CHAOS?
CREATION OR ACCIDENT?
Scientists believe that it is inconceivable that there should not be life on other planets since there are billions of stars or suns that also have planets circulating them. How is it possible that only the earth has life on it? However, mere numbers of objects do not determine identical properties. Numbers are figures that only relate to quantities or amounts. No one, especially scientists, would claim that because there are billions of solar systems there must also be life in them. It is quite probable that the uniqueness of our planet is unparalleled in the universe because it is not an accident of atoms but was created by God and the stars were created for the earth.
God spoke to the Jews, of all people on earth, and revealed the story of creation to them. (Genesis 1) Of course, he did not explain to them his physics or chemistry, but the story of creation in Genesis is compatible with the known facts of the earth’s properties and life. God revealed to them that the first properties necessary to biological life was water and light, (Genesis 1:1-2) which we now know to be H20 and electromagnetic waves of radiation. And, in addition, the first property of mind and thought which is spirit. Man is not a machine that was created to operate mechanically or electronically. He was created by God in God’s own image. (Genesis 1:26)
WHERE DID LIFE COME FROM?
Where did life come from? You know where your parents came from. They came from their parents. But where did it all begin? It began somewhere didn't it? Human beings did not always exist, and we know that the further we go back in time the number of people living on earth gets less and less so where did it begin? If we divide the rate at which earths population increases each year by the same rate it decreases over time, it will soon be clear that in a few thousand years we would arrive at a zero population, save for Noah. This rules out any theory of evolution. Life on earth had to begin with all the resources that make biological life possible before human or animal life could begin, not by change or alteration but by creation.
WHAT IS A HUMAN BEING?
Human beings did not create themselves so it follows that they were created by someone else. That someone must be very intelligent and have a great mind to design and make a human being who is not like a machine but can think and do things by themselves. As you know a creation is something made and for it to be a creation it must have a design and a purpose. For example, a house is a creation and it is built by a builder who knows how to build a house. If you try to build a house without knowledge the house will soon fall down. So, the someone who made human beings must be a Maker of human beings who knows how to design a human being and make a human being live. This Maker the bible calls God. Human beings did not exist. They were not there when all things began. There was no air for them to breath, no sun to keep them warm, no food to fill their stomachs, no water to drink, no land, no sky, no stars. All these things had a beginning for nothing exists without a beginning and a cause; so if they did not exist they must have had a cause or a reason to exist. To suppose that they began without a reason is like imagining they began by themselves which is impossible. For a thing that does not exist cannot begin to exist by itself. I am sure you know all this because you know that two plus two is four. Numbers add up but to say that a thing that does not exist has an existence does not add up! There is not even the first number to add.
For anything to exist at all there must be a Creator or Maker who exists before everything else. And that Maker must exist for anything else to begin to exist. So it is clear that the Maker must be more than what he makes or creates. He certainly could not be less, could he? That is why this Maker is called God, the greatest of all beings, who whilst not being made by anything else, makes everything by his own power and mind.
There are those scientists who refuse to believe anything unless it can be explained. This is like saying I won’t believe that God created the universe unless I can explain it. Or, unless my knowledge is identical with God’s I wont believe in him. This is foolishness, pride and conceit, for how can that which is made be the same as its maker?
Human beings are God's creation and, God's children.
CREATION REVEALED TO GOD’S CHOSEN CHILDREN
There is no corresponding record of how everything began in the ancient world. The Jewish bible explains everything intelligently and with a foreknowledge God’s chosen children could not possibly have had or imagined themselves. The Jews did not have a philosophy of how the world began as did the Greeks. Their wisdom likewise was not derived from logic but from their faith in God Word. God’s Word and wisdom was part of their everyday life. King Solomon when he became king prayed, ‘Your servant is in the midst of the people whom you have chosen, a great people, so numerous they cannot be numbered or counted. Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, able to discern between good and evil; for who can govern this your great people?’ It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. (1 kings 3:8-10) Solomon was sovereign over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines, even to the border of Egypt; they brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life. (1 kings 4:21)
The Jews, of all people on earth had a knowledge of God's creation It was to them and them alone, that God revealed his purpose and design for human life on earth.
EVERYTHING GOD MADE WAS GOOD
The bible explains that God made everythig good. In the first chapter of Genesis the purpose of God to make everything good is repeated eight times, (Genesis 1:4-31) in respect of light, land, sea, forests, plains, sun, moon and stars, and finally man himself. Man was good. No evil existed in his soul. He and she, (man,) had no evil thought to live recklessly or sinfully. They lived in a Paradise, no sickness, disease or want of anything. God made them to be his own children by their choice not by their instincts. He made them aware of sin and its consequences, letting them know that sin was a reality. They had the choice of believing God or not. Unbelief is the root of sin and that is why faith and atonement became the first requirement of salvation once sin had entered the world of man. The choice of Adam and Eve to live without believing God's word had consequences that their children and children's children have suffered from since that time. The world we live in today is full of sin because sin is endemic in man's nature and pandemic in the world. Our greatest problem is sin. God's chosen people are the bearers of God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Of the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Jesus Christ is the Messiah. He said, He that believes in me has eternal life. (John 3:16) Is it not strange that Jesus calls for faith rather than good deeds? Faith is the origin of good deeds for by faith we receive the promises of God and by walking with God we express our faith.
